Today, the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced that James B. Ogden, 52, has been arrested for Arson in the First Degree. The fire occurred at 108 East Artesian Street in Montezuma on Sunday, October 4, 2020

“Evidence from the fire on October 4 pointed to the involvement of a neighbor who has now been identified as Mr. Ogden,” said Commissioner King. “Investigators discovered that Mr. Ogden had been on the scene at the time of the fire and in possession of fire-starting materials.”

The home off of Artesian Street is now uninhabitable due to fire damage, and Mr. Ogden has been charged with Arson in the First Degree. Commissioner King’s State Fire Investigations Unit and the Montezuma Police Department will continue working together on this case and investigating potentially related fires.
