ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a fire in Jefferson has been ruled an act of arson by his State Fire Investigations Unit. The fire occurred at 1180 Washington Street around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23.

“The City of Jefferson Fire Department arrived on the scene Monday to find this 55-year-old, 1,000-square-foot home completely destroyed by fire,” said Commissioner King. “According to the home’s owner, the house had been vacant and disconnected from utilities for several years.”

Commissioner King’s State Fire Investigations Unit and the City of Jefferson Fire Department have an ongoing investigation into this fire.
