ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a fire at 2128 Hillsinger Road in Augusta has been ruled an act of arson. The fire occurred around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1. The State Fire Investigations Unit provided investigative assistance the next morning.

“When our agency responded, the utility room, carport, and attic of the 59-year-old home had received significant fire damage,” said Commissioner King. “Our investigators discovered that this case of arson involved two separate fires, one in the home’s utility room and one along the home’s wall.”

The Augusta Fire Department and Commissioner King’s State Fire Investigations Unit are cooperating in this ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about this fire should call 1-800-282-5804. Callers can remain anonymous on this 24-hour tip line for Commissioner King’s office.
