ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a June 15th house fire on Newborn Road in Rutledge has been ruled an act of arson.

The fire was reported around 6:45 p.m. by someone driving past the residence. The 53-year-old, 1204-square-foot, one-story dwelling was vacant at the time of the fire.

“Our investigators determined that fires were intentionally set in the two rear bedrooms of the structure,” said Commissioner King. “Anyone with information about this Morgan County fire is invited to call my Fire Investigators Unit at 1-800-282-5804.”

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit assisted the Morgan County Fire Department and Morgan County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
