Man Arrested in Connection with Eatonton Fire
ATLANTA – Today, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced that Cedric Hurt, 37, was arrested for Arson in the 1st Degree and six counts of Life Endangerment. The arrest stemmed from a July 31st incident in which a fire was started in a vehicle located in the front yard of a residence that later spread to the 81-year-old, 1669-square foot house.
“Mr. Hurt was arrested in Jesup by U.S. Marshals,” said Commissioner King. “He is facing multiple unrelated charges and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail. I commend the work and investigative skills of my staff and law enforcement officials that led to the detainment of this suspect.”
Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit assisted the Eatonton Police Department with this investigation.
