ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Meghin Ard, 29, of Phenix City, Alabama, has been charged with Insurance Fraud and Forgery.

“In July of 2021, Ms. Ard filed a claim with Jefferson Insurance claiming she could not go on a Carnival Cruise due to medical reasons,” said Commissioner King. “During the claims process, she is alleged to have submitted several forged documents in an attempt to secure payment of just under $2,400 from the insurance company. In fact, the investigation determined that no cruise was ever booked by Ms. Ard.”

This investigation resulted in warrants taken out in Gwinnett County against Ms. Ard for Insurance Fraud and five counts of Forgery in the First Degree.
