Spalding County House Fire Leaves One Victim
ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that an individual perished during a residential fire that occurred on Buck Creek Circle in Griffin, Georgia.
“On Wednesday, November 15 at 6:10 p.m., the Spalding County Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire with a report of a person possibly trapped inside,” said Commissioner King. “After extensive fire suppression efforts lasting several hours, one victim was recovered from the structure and sent to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy and positive identification. While the exact cause of the fire is still undetermined, based on initial findings it appears to be accidental in nature.”
According to the Spalding County Fire Marshal’s Office, another individual who was present in the home at the time of the fire managed to escape with minor injuries.
Our office is currently working with the Spalding County Fire Department, Coroner’s Office, and Sheriff’s Office on this investigation.
