Jesup Arson Under Investigation
ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a residential structure fire on Cherry Street in Jesup is under investigation.
“At approximately 11:46 AM on December 14, the Jesup Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the home, which has been vacant for several years,” said Commissioner King. “A person of interest was spotted exiting from the rear of the structure just as the smoke began. Investigators have classified this fire as incendiary and are following all leads. The property suffered approximately $55,000 worth of damage as a result of the fire.”
Anyone with information on this fire should call the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. In coordination with the State Fire Investigations Unit, a reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with the Jesup Fire and Police Departments on this investigation.
