Walton County Men Arrested in Insurance Fraud Scheme
ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Frank Brake III, 32, of Lithonia, and Terry McMillian Jr., 32, of Monroe, have been charged with Insurance Fraud and Theft by Deception.
On February 14, 2023, the suspects obtained an auto loan in the amount of $100,000 for a 2021 Jeep Track Hawk. In July that same year, the two men conspired to falsely report the vehicle as stolen.
“Upon investigation, our agents determined the vehicle was never in possession of either suspect,” said Commissioner King. “By falsely reporting the vehicle as stolen, the duo was hoping to receive additional funds as reimbursement from their insurance company for a loss that never truly occurred.”
Warrants were issued against the suspects on March 12, 2025, in Walton County. Frank Brake was arrested on March 20, 2025, and Terry McMillian turned himself over to authorities on March 24, 2025. Both individuals have since been released on bond.
Our office is working with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office on this investigation.
