ATLANTA – On August 1, investigators with Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King’s Fire Investigations Unit responded to a mobile home fire at 478 Evans Road in Reidsville. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set using an accelerant and quickly identified two subjects of interest.

On August 6, Christian Seth Chester, 21, of Statesboro and Caleb Benjamin Kangeter, 21, of Ellabell, were charged with Arson in the 1st Degree and Aggravated Assault and arrested by the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office.

“While there were no injuries, there was a potential victim at home at the time of the fire,” said Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King. “Our investigators were able to work closely with local authorities and the GBI to quickly identify these two individuals and get them into custody. This investigation remains ongoing.”

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 5 with this investigation.
