ATLANTA – Fire investigators with the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King have determined that a residential structure fire that occurred shortly before 6:30 P.M. on the evening of August 20 at 1642 Old Farm Drive in Elberton was intentionally set. The fire appears to have been set in the left side rear bedroom.

“The fire in question was discovered by a friend of the renters who stopped by to feed their pets and reported smoke coming from the home,” said Commissioner King. “Luckily, responders were able to confine the fire to the bedroom floor and no one else was home at the time. Anyone with information about this fire should contact our Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804. Callers can choose to remain anonymous.”

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Elbert County Fire Department with this ongoing investigation.
