ATLANTA – The Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a vehicle fire in Murray County has been ruled an act of arson. The fire occurred after a hit and run killed two people on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. 

“The State Fire Investigations Unit was contacted by the GBI after the Murray County Sheriff’s Office discovered a vehicle that was totally destroyed by the fire,” said Commissioner King. “Our investigators discovered that the fire originated in the back seat and that the cause of the fire was incendiary.” 

The Murray County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate both the car and the driver following this wreck.
