ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Charles Mason, 24, has been arrested for Arson in the 2nd Degree in connection with a Wheeler County fire. The fire occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, at the intersection of U.S. 280 and First Street in Glenwood.

“One of our state officials completed an investigation into a semi van trailer on the southwest corner of this intersection,” said Commissioner King. “He discovered that the fire had been contained to the trailer and the grass surrounding it. Following an interview, Charles Mason of Glenwood was arrested."

Mr. Mason is currently on bond for an arson that occurred in August 2019. He is being held in the Wheeler County Jail as Commissioner King’s State Fire Investigations Unit continues to work with the Wheeler County Emergency Management Agency and Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office on this investigation.
