ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Danny Felton Waters, 68, was killed in a Brooks County fire. The accidental fire occurred at 141 West Drive in Valdosta around 2:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1st.

“This tragic event was ruled electrical in nature, starting near a recliner in a rear room of the residence,” said Commissioner King. “The deceased was found in the living room where he was searching for the source of the fire as his wife escaped.”

Commissioner King’s State Fire Investigations Unit assisted the Brooks County and Valdosta Fire Departments with this investigation. This marks the 19th death from a Georgia fire in 2021.
