ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Billy Walsh, 29, and Joshua Evans, 29, were charged with Arson in the 1st Degree and Insurance Fraud in connection with a Telfair County Fire that occurred at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, March 14.

The 1000 sq. ft. single-story wood-frame house is located at 52 Fifth Street in McRae-Helena.

“At the time of the fire, the house was being occupied by Mr. Walsh,” said Commissioner King. “Working with the McRae-Helena Police and Fire Departments, we have ruled this fire to be arson and the residence a total loss.”

Both suspects are being held in the Telfair County Jail.
