ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Belinda Ann Yaremko, 60, was killed in an accidental fire in Camilla on the evening of June 21st.

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit arrived on scene around 10:00 p.m. to find the 30-year-old wood frame home on Sassafras Tea Road with severe damage from a fire and explosion, which destroyed most of the roof and blew windows out into the surrounding yard.

“Mrs. Yaremko’s body was discovered inside the home by our investigators,” said Commissioner King. “We have determined that this tragic accident was the result of a propane explosion.”

This marks the 73rd death from a Georgia fire in 2021. Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit assisted Mitchell County Fire Rescue and the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office on this case.
