ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a 23-year-old male was killed on July 3rd in Haralson County due to injuries sustained while shooting off fireworks.

The incident occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on Stone Mountain Street in Tallapoosa. The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

“The victim was holding the launch tube over his head when this tragic accident occurred,” said Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King. “We are following the wishes of the local officials and not releasing the name of the deceased at this time.”

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit assisted the Haralson County Fire Department, the Haralson County Coroner’s Office, and the Tallapoosa Police Department with this investigation.
