ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that his Fire Investigations Unit is currently investigating an attempted commercial arson in Hart County.

The incident occurred just after 4:00 p.m. on the afternoon of July 5th at Lee Manufacturing & Engineering Co. on Royston Highway in Hartwell. Incendiary devices were found at two buildings, although they failed to ignite.

“Thankfully, there was no fire damage to either building and the business was closed for the 4th of July holiday,” said Commissioner King. “However, we are still investigating this incident as an arson. Anyone with information about this attempted arson is invited to call my Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804.”

Commissioner King’s office is working with the Hart County Fire and Sheriff’s Department on this case. A reward of up to $10,000 is offered by Georgia Arson Control for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
