ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that one person was killed in a Paulding County fire. The accidental fire occurred on Halehaven Drive in Douglasville around 9:37 a.m. on Friday, February 25th. The 30-year-old, 1104-square-foot residence received moderate damage.

“The fire originated in the kitchen and is believed to have been started while the occupants were cooking,” said Commissioner King. “Our office assisted the Paulding County Fire Department with this tragic incident and are now awaiting a positive ID from the GBI crime lab.”

The deceased was turned over to the Paulding County Coroner and was transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab in Atlanta for autopsy.
