ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a Monday evening Target store fire in Buckhead is under investigation.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Monday, investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to a commercial structure fire located at 2539 Piedmont Road NE. The store was found open and occupied at the time of the fire.

“Through the hard work of the Atlanta Fire Department, the fire was quickly extinguished without any major injuries,” said Commissioner King. “The fire caused moderate damage to retail products throughout the store, though no structural damage has been recorded. The investigation will remain open at this time.”

We urge anyone with information on this fire to call the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-252-5804. In coordination with the State Fire Investigations Unit, a reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.

Our office is working with the City of Atlanta Fire Department and the Atlanta Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms on this case.
