ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a residential structure fire on Macedonia Road in Newnan is under investigation.

On June 17 at approximately 4:48 AM, Coweta County officials were dispatched to a residential fire with multiple trapped individuals. Upon arrival, fire department personnel found approximately half of the structure on fire.

“Out of the 11 occupants, five were able to escape and were transported to Grady Hospital for treatment,” said Commissioner King. “The remaining occupants were declared deceased on scene. Upon initial examination, the fire appears to have started in the garage area of the structure. This fire remains under investigation, though we do not suspect any foul play at this time.”

Our office is working with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, Coweta County Fire Rescue, and Coweta County Coroner on this investigation.
