Wilkes County Fatal Fire under Investigation
ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a residential fire is under investigation on Greensboro Road in the City of Crawfordville.
On Wednesday, January 22, investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were requested to assist in the investigation of a residential fire on Greensboro Road. Upon arrival, heavy fire damage was observed throughout the property. Commissioner King adds, “Two fatalities have been confirmed at this time; the victims have been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy and positive identification. The cause of the fire is being classified as undetermined, though no foul play is suspected at this time.”
This case is being worked alongside the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, Wilkes County Coroner’s Office, and the Tyrone Fire Department.
