Wildland Fire in Vidalia Under Investigation

ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a wildland fire in Vidalia is under investigation.  

On March 8, 2025, investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office were requested to assist in the investigation of a suspicious fire on Old Petross Circle in Montgomery County.

“Upon extinguishment, three areas of origin were identified. Investigators observed damage on four vehicles, the porch of a structure, and less than a quarter acre of land," said Commissioner King. “The cause of the fire is classified as incendiary.”

Our office is working with the Higgston Fire Department and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office on this investigation.
