Commissioner King Receives COVID-19 Vaccine

ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that he received the COVID-19 vaccine while deployed as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard serving the Navajo Nation.

“Ever since the pandemic came to our state, countless Georgians have worked around the clock to treat patients, educate the public, and develop a safe, effective vaccine,” said Commissioner King. “I have complete confidence in the doctors, nurses, and scientists working on the frontlines of this pandemic, and I have complete confidence in the safe, effective vaccines that have been approved by the federal government and Operation Warp Speed. I am glad to have received the vaccination.”

Since the COVID-19 vaccine was rolled out, over 110,000 vaccines have been administered in Georgia while Governor Kemp and the Georgia Department of Public Health have expanded eligibility to include our healthcare personnel, first responders, long-term care residents, long-term care staff, and Georgians over 65.

“I have joined my fellow military service members in the Navajo Nation and across our country to help distribute the vaccine,” continued King. “Upon returning to Georgia, I look forward to working with Governor Kemp and Dr. Toomey to encourage all Georgians, including those in our Hispanic and Latino communities, to receive this vaccine.”
