Greenville Fire Intentionally Set
ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a Meriwether County fire was intentionally set. The fire occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on October 2nd at the Greenville Commons Apartments on North Depot Street in Greenville. The fire moderately damaged the 17-year-old, two-bedroom apartment.
“The apartment fire alarm system notified the Meriwether County 911 Center of a fire at the complex,” said Commissioner King. “Upon arrival, first responders noted that the fire was started in a chair placed against the front door of the apartment. Anyone with information about this Meriwether County fire is invited to call my Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804.”
Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Greenville Police Department with this investigation. In coordination with the State Fire Investigations Unit, a reward of up to $10,000 is offered by Georgia Arson Control for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
