Arson, Insurance Fraud Lead to Arrest of Wilkinson County Man

The Office of Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner John F. King announced today the arrest of Huby Knight Jr., 46, by the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office.

Dodge County Man Arrested for Arson, Other Charges

On August 10, Laurens County Fire Department Investigators charged Andrew Thomas Whittle, 36, with Arson in the 1st Degree, Burglary, and Terrorist Threats. The charges stem from Whittle’s role in a July 23 structure fire at 209 Barrs Road near Dexter in rural Laurens County near the Dodge County border. 

Two Men Arrested for Tattnall County Arson

On August 1, investigators with Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King’s Fire Investigations Unit responded to a mobile home fire at 478 Evans Road in Reidsville. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set using an accelerant and quickly identified two subjects of interest.

Dade County Fire Ruled Arson

Investigators with the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office have determined that a fire that occurred shortly after 10:30 P.M. on the evening of August 2nd at 59 Rock Creek Road in Trenton was intentionally set. The fire completely destroyed the 1600-square-foot mobile home.

Lanier County Man Charged With Arson

On July 20, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King’s Fire Investigations Unit arrested Ronnie Brewington, 33, of Hortense, with Arson in the 1st Degree. The charges stem from his involvement in a May 24 structure fire at 37 Lloyd Curry Road in Lakeland. He is now in Lanier County Sheriff’s Office custody.

Governor Kemp Signs Legislation Allowing for Early Prescription Refills During Emergencies

On Wednesday, Governor Brian Kemp was joined by Commissioner John F. King, State Senator Kay Kirkpatrick, and State Representative Ron Stephens for the signing of legislation to allow for early prescription refills during a state of emergency. 

Baldwin County Man Charged With Arson

On July 23, a warrant was issued by Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King’s Fire Investigations Unit charging Darius Antiwon King, 32, of Milledgeville, with Arson in the 1st Degree. The charges stem from his involvement in a July 11 fire at the Relax Inn in Milledgeville. He was arrested by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office on August 1. 

Two Lanier County Men Charged with Arson, Insurance Fraud

On July 23, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King’s Fire Investigations Unit took out warrants on Nilesh Patel, 41, and Bhavinkumar Joshi, 34, both of Lakeland, for Arson in the 1st Degree and Insurance Fraud. Patel and Joshi were later arrested by the Lanier County Sheriff’s Office on July 31.
