Burn Injury Reporting

Only designated burn centers are required to report burn injuries and must submit cases that meet state reporting criteria. Reportable burn injuries include second‑ or third‑degree burns covering five percent or more of the body, burns involving the upper respiratory tract, laryngeal edema caused by inhaling superheated air, and any burn injury or wound that may result in the victim’s death. These reports ensure consistent statewide data collection and support injury‑prevention efforts.

  • Burn Injuries that are subject to reporting
    • Second or third degree burns to five (5) percent or more of the body
    • Burns to the upper respiratory tract
    • Laryngeal edema from inhaling superheated air
    • Burn injury or wound that may result in the victim’s death
  • How to Report Burn Injuries
    1. Request Access
      1. Contact [email protected] and request an account in the LMS (Learning Management System).
    2. Login
      1. Once your account is created, you will receive login credentials and instructions. Use these to log into the LMS.
