Jefferson County Fire Ruled Arson

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a structure fire in Jefferson County was intentionally set and has been ruled an act of arson. The fire occurred on Fifth Street in Louisville around 12:58 a.m. on Friday, April 23. The 1,120-square-foot wood-frame home, built in 1920, was a total loss.

Woman Killed in Cochran Fire

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that one person was killed in a Bleckley County Fire. The fire occurred on Randall Road in Cochran around 6:32 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27. The 1,728-square-feet double-wide mobile home, built in 1997, was a total loss.

Putnam County Fire Ruled Arson

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a structure fire in Putnam County was intentionally set and has been ruled an act of arson. The fire occurred on Dennis Station Road in Eatonton around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 22.

Sandersville Man Killed in Fire

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that one person was killed in a Washington County fire. The fire occurred on Sunhill Road in Sandersville around 9:06 p.m. on Saturday, April 24

Carrollton Motel Fire Ruled Arson

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a structure fire in Carroll County was intentionally set and has been ruled incendiary in nature. The fire occurred at the Red Roof Inn Motel at 1125 Bankhead Highway in Carrollton around 1:35 a.m. on Friday, April 23.  

Whitfield County Fire Ruled Arson

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a structure fire in Whitfield County was intentionally set and has been ruled incendiary in nature. The fire occurred on Reed Pond Road in Dalton around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 25.

Commissioner King Releases Initial Claim, Loss Estimates for March 26 Storms

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that, based on data provided by Georgia insurers, the March 26 storms in Coweta County and across the Southside have resulted in over 4,000 individual home and auto claims and more than $75 million in total losses. That number does not include commercial losses and is expected to grow.

Habersham Man Arrested for Attempted Arson

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Michael Jurado, 23, was arrested on charges of 1st Degree Arson, 2nd Degree Criminal Damage to Property, and Simple Assault under the Domestic Violence Act. The incidence occurred around 5:49 p.m. on Friday, April 16. The 1000-square-foot structure is located on Crane Mill Road in Cornelia.   

Multiple Chatham County Fires Ruled Arson

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that three fires in Chatham County have been ruled arson and are believed to be connected. They occurred at 7 Holiday Court, 5667 Ogeechee Road, and 322 Chevis Road in Savannah. The instances took place between April 4 and April 14.   

Two Killed in Cartersville Fire

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that two people were killed in a Bartow County Fire. The fire occurred at 170 Oak Leaf Drive SW in Cartersville around 7:02 p.m. on Sunday, April 4. The 1,700-square-foot structure was approximately 35 years old and was completely destroyed by the fire.
