The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance oversees the licensing of insurance agents, subagents, adjusters and counselors. The information in this section is provided as a guide for new resident applicants and answers the most commonly asked licensing questions.

All resident applicants must apply via our licensing website with Sircon. This is to provide quicker access to uploaded documents and easier communications.
Non-resident applicants can apply via both licensing applicant systems or NIPR.com.

Get a Resident Agent License
To get a license, you need to meet specific requirements, which vary depending on the category, also called class, of insurance you wish to sell.

- If you have applied but need to attach any required documents to your application in Sircon, these are the helpful instructions on how to upload to
Sircon

- Emailed or mailed documents will not be attached to your application. You must upload the required documents to your application.
- All resident and DHS producers applicants must first apply for the needed license before requesting fingerprinting registration approval. If no application is found, the fingerprint registration request is denied and the applicant will need to apply for the application in Sircon and then request fingerprinting registration approval. Please review the instructions for this process.

Fingerprinting for Resident and DHS Producer Licenses
All resident producers and DHS applicants must first apply for the needed license before requesting fingerprinting registration approval.
If no application is found, the fingerprint registration request will be denied. An email will be sent from the fingerprint vendor notifying the individual. The applicant will need to apply for the insurance producer license in Sircon and then request fingerprinting registration approval.

Renew an Agent License
You are required to renew your license annually or biannually, depending on when it was first issued.

- Already familiar with the steps? Login to the Georgia Licensing portal to renew your license.
If your license is inactivated for reason of failure to renew or not being CE compliant, you can apply to reinstate your license within twelve (12) months of the inactivation date. Reinstatements can only be filed for in Sircon. This reinstatement requires payment of the reinstatement fee, late fee, completion of any CE if needed, and fingerprinting if the license has been inactive for more than six (6) months.

Citizenship Affidavit and Verifiable Identification Instructions
Your application cannot be processed until this completed and notarized affidavit along with a copy of a verifiable identification has been provided. This document and id must be uploaded to your application or renewal. We do not accept emailed or mailed in documents.
- Print, complete, sign, and notarize the Citizenship Affidavit Form
- Make a copy of the secure and verifiable identification document from the list provided
- Submit the form and copy of the acceptable identification document
- Submission can be done after completing and paying for your application online via Sircon

Register as a Life Settlement Broker
- To be eligible to register as a Life Settlement Broker, you must hold a Life license for one year either in this State or in your home state. Non-resident producers must also have a valid non-resident producer license in Georgia. Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. r.. 120-2-93-.04(4).
- You must provide the Life Settlement Providers that you are associated with.
- The application fee of $50 plus a $5 processing fee is required when applying.
- Apply online at Sircon.com.
- When the application is approved, you will receive an email with the license.

CE Reduction/Exemption Request (Electronic Submittals only as of 09-25-2026)
Once you become a licensed, you must complete CE for each renewal cycle to maintain licensure. This criterion also varies depending on the type of license held.

You can access your CE transcripts at any time at Compliance Express ™ at Sircon.com.
You must file this request via the Sircon Additional Service website. No fee is required but documentation could be required to be uploaded with the completed form.
To submit this request:

- Select Individual radio button
- Enter State
- Last Name of Individual
- Enter License Number

Adjuster, Broker & Counselor Requirements
In addition to the basic agent licensing requirements, Adjusters, Brokers, and Counselors must meet specific submission requirements.

Address Change, Copy of License or Check Status of Application
To update addresses, including email addresses, request a copy of your license or check the status of an application:
- Access the Georgia Licensing portal.
- There is no fee for an address change
- If you experience an issue with the change, please call 800-274-8969 or email [email protected].

Name Change Request - Individual and Agency (Electronic Submittals only as of 09-25-2026)
- If requesting a name change for an individual, you must submit documentation to support the requested change. Documentation includes at least one of the following: current driver’s license, marriage license, divorce decree, court order, social security card or passport. The form is to be completed and submitted with the documentation.
- If requesting a name change for an agency/firm, please review the Name Approval process to determine if you are required to submit a Name Approval letter with the Name Change submission - Agency Licensing and Renewals website page. The form is to be completed and submitted with the documentation.
- Fee: Name Change - $30 ($25 fee plus $5 processing fee)

Letter of Certification Request
- The associated fee is $10.00 per letter plus a $5 processing fee.
- You can request electronically via Georgia Licensing portal.
- No form is needed. This is an electronic process with payment required to submit.

Letter of Clearance Request (New Electronic Process Coming Soon)
Your Resident License will not be converted into a Non-Resident License. Once you are licensed in your new resident state, you will need to apply for a non-resident license in Georgia if you want to maintain a license in Georgia.
Fee: $15 ($10 fee plus $5 processing fee)

Add or Remove a Non-Active Status Request (Electronic Submittals Only as of 09-25-2026)
To request a non-active status,
- You must be licensed for ten (10) consecutive years or more to request non-active status.
- A request to put a license in non-active status can only be submitted in the 90 days preceding license expiration.
To remove non-active status,
- A request to remove the non-active status for a licensee can be submitted at any time.
Complete the Request to Add-Remove Non-Active Status form .

Cancel License Request
- No fee is required.
- You must provide your Georgia license number and designate the license type and lines to cancel.
- Complete the License Cancellation Form - State of Georgia .
- Email completed form to [email protected].

Transfer a License to Georgia from another State
To transfer a resident license from another state to Georgia:
- Request a letter of clearance from your current state
- Check and confirm your license is Inactive in your current state
- Within 90 days of that date, apply via Sircon for your Georgia license
- This must be done within that time period to be exempted from pre-licensing courses, exams and fingerprinting
If you submit an incomplete application, you will receive one deficiency notice via email to the business email address in your application submittal. You will have 60 days to resolve any deficiencies. If your application remains incomplete after 60 days, it will be closed as incomplete and you will need to reapply. There will be no refunds considered for incomplete applications that are closed.
