ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Joe Hadley, 65, of Harris County was killed in a Pine Mountain fire on Sunday, January 17th.

Harris County Fire Department and Harris County Sheriff’s Office officials arrived at the scene at 369 Bethany Church Road in Pine Mountain, Georgia, around 6:20pm on the 17th to find the structure fully involved.

“There was severe fire damage to the middle area of the 71-year-old, 712-square-foot wood framed structure,” said Commissioner King. “They found the victim near the back door before transferring his body to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.”

Commissioner King’s State Fire Investigations Unit is assisting the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Fire Department, and Harris County Coroner with this open investigation. 

This marks the 13th death from a Georgia fire in 2021.
