ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Ricky Burke, 68, was arrested in connection with a Ware County fire. The suspect is being charged with Arson in the 2nd Degree.  

The fire occurred on Tuesday, September 28, at approximately 6:22 a.m. on Columbus Street in Waycross. The 40-year-old, 800-square-foot building was being used to store plywood. There were no utilities connected to the building.

“Investigators on the scene determined the fire was intentionally set and quickly identified a suspect,” said Commissioner King. “Later that day, Mr. Burke was apprehended and taken to the Ware County jail.”

Commissioner King’s Fire Investigations Unit assisted the Ware County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
