ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Grady Mitchell, 19, of Eastman, has been charged with arson.

On June 15th, investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were requested to respond to a residential structure fire on Ninth Avenue in Eastman. The fire caused moderate to severe damage across the 41-year-old house, which was uninhabited at the time of the fire.

“Through the hard work of one of our Arson K9 Units, we were able to determine the fire as incendiary in nature,” said Commissioner King. “Mr. Mitchell, who was recently arrested by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges, has been charged with Arson in the First Degree in reference to this case.”

Our office assisted the Eastman Fire Department, Police Department, and Dodge County Sheriff’s Office with this case.
