ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Denna Rochelle Conaway, 54, of Rome, has been charged with insurance fraud and forgery.

Between October 2022 and January 2023, Ms. Conaway initiated three separate accident claims with Guardian Insurance Company. In each of the incidents, the suspect submitted medical invoices for hospitalizations occurring outside of Georgia.

“Ms. Conaway’s first fraudulent invoice claimed she was hospitalized in Yuma, Arizona, and she received just over $10,000 in payment from the insurance company,” said Commissioner King. “After this apparent success, Ms. Conaway went on to file claims using forged invoices for hospitalizations in Miami, Florida and Los Angeles, California. However, the hospitals had no record of Ms. Conaway being a patient at their facilities, and her claims were rightly denied.”

In total, the suspect attempted to procure over $1,557,000 in fraudulent payments from Guardian. Ms. Conaway was arrested on September 27th and currently remains in custody with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
