ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Alvin Ford, 61, has been arrested in connection with a fire at 901 West 15th Avenue in Cordele.

“At approximately 11:37 p.m. on March 19th, the State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigations Unit was requested to respond to a residential structure fire in Cordele,” said Commissioner King. “After examining the scene and speaking with several eyewitnesses, investigators determined Mr. Ford intentionally set the structure on fire.”

Mr. Ford was arrested on Wednesday, April 10, after being released from an area hospital. The suspect is a documented firesetter in the Cordele area and is known to have set multiple abandoned structures on fire.
