South Georgia Man Convicted of Murder and Arson

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Timothy Larue Sheffield, 59, was convicted of Murder and Arson on Friday, October 29th, in connection with a 2013 incident involving the death of his wife. Mr. Sheffield was sentenced to life in prison.  

Commissioner King: Change Clocks, Change Batteries

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King is urging all Georgians to change their clocks and their smoke alarm batteries this weekend to mark the end of Daylight Savings Time.

Dahlonega Fire Intentionally Set

On October 28th, a member of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King’s Fire Investigations Unit was requested by the Lumpkin County Emergency Services to assist in a fire investigation on Chestatee Springs Road in Dahlonega. The fire occurred at approximately 5:48 a.m. and minimally damaged the 42-year-old, 1900-square-foot residence.

Elderly Man Killed in Adrian Fire

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that William Lumley, 82, was killed in a Johnson County fire on Wednesday, October 27th.

Stockbridge Man Wanted for Insurance Fraud

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a warrant was issued for Adonis Roshane Blackwood, 29, of Stockbridge, for one count of Insurance Fraud. Mr. Blackwood is wanted in connection with a Liberty County case. 

Manchester Stolen Vehicle Fire Ruled Arson

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a vehicle stolen in Meriwether County was found abandoned and had been intentionally set on fire. The car was discovered burned on White Oak Drive in Manchester around 8:15 a.m. on Monday, October 25th.

Sparta Vehicle Fire Intentionally Set

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a vehicle in Hancock County was intentionally set on fire. The fire occurred on Powelton Avenue in Sparta around 9:22 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26th. The car was inoperable and had been stored at the residence for approximately two months.

Elderly Woman Killed in Rome Fire

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Sung Park, 90, was killed in a Floyd County fire that occurred at 1:55 a.m. on Monday, October 4th. The fire moderately damaged the home on Donley Drive in Rome. 

Suspect Arrested in Connection with Waycross Fire

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Ricky Burke, 68, was arrested in connection with a Ware County fire. The suspect is being charged with Arson in the 2nd Degree.  

Ringgold Fire Intentionally Set

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a Catoosa County fire was intentionally set. The fire occurred at approximately 5:58 a.m. on October 23rd on Clydesdale Lane in Ringgold. The fire moderately damaged the 980-square-foot residence.
