Limited Risk Entities
State of Georgia Recent Filing Changes
Effective December 16, 2023, the Georgia Department of Insurance transitioned certain Limited Risk Entities to a new portal: GIMS (Georgia Insurance Management System).
The following entity types are now processed through the GIMS Company Portal:
- Automobile Self-Insurers
- County Mutuals
- Prepaid Legal Plans
- Risk Purchasing Groups
- Risk Retention Groups
- Vehicle Protection Warrantors
Important Information
- Previous portal credentials will not work in GIMS.
- GIMS requires its own username and password.
- You must register your company for access.
- Each company is allotted 2 Administrators and up to 10 Users.
- Please remember to check email inboxes and spam/junk folders to ensure future updates and notices are read.
- As you learn to navigate the new GIMS Company Portal, please be sure to review all company contacts to ensure up-to-date information.

Deadlines & Fees:
Please note the annual renewal due dates for your entity type. A $15.00 per day late fee will be applied to your annual renewal invoice if submitted after the due date.
Georgia Required Filings-Limited Risk Entities
The Georgia Required Filing tab located in the GIMS Company Portal is designed for all non-recurring, ad-hoc filings and will streamline submission and payment processes for these specific filings. This addition ensures a more efficient, paperless experience for your organization.
The following filings for Limited Risk Entities should now be submitted and paid through the Georgia Required Filings tab:
- Conversion of Stock Corporation to Member-managed Limited Liability Company (LLC) O.C.G.A. 33-41-5
- Certificate of Dormancy (O.C.G.A. 33-41-23)
- Change in Director/Officer of Entity
- Business Plan Amendment
- Dividend Request
- Change in Organizational Structure

The Limited-Risk Entities Division regulates:
- A growing and constantly evolving community of niche market insurance entities that bear little to no risk.
- Certain risk-bearing entities that fall outside of the traditional insurance company framework.
Each of these limited-risk or non-traditional entities is licensed/registered by the Department and requires continual regulatory oversight.
